Monthly Recap: February

And just like that, February has come and gone. I played fewer games than in January, but I still managed to try 4 new ones. The month was especially exciting thanks to two Kickstarter deliveries, which, of course, hit the table right away for a test run. On top of that, I spent a week skiing, which was an absolute blast! All in all, February was fantastic.

Here is the breakdown of my stats:

The 4 games that were new to me:

Santorini: Pantheon Edition: This fulfillment took its time! I had been eagerly anticipating this game for over four months, and let me tell you, it was well worth the wait. Unfortunately, I didn’t back the expansion, Santorini: Riddle of the Sphinx, but I’ve already pre-ordered it and can’t wait to get my hands on it. The extra God cards from the Kickstarter edition are fantastic, adding even more variety to this quick, thinky game. It’s so easy to play multiple rounds back-to-back. Plus, the box art is stunning—definitely a showpiece on my shelf!

Explorers of Navoria: I have to admit, I backed this game last year without doing much research on the gameplay. But I’m so glad I did! It completely surprised me, and I really enjoy it. As I was reading the rules to teach my friends, I kept thinking, this is going to be good. And it did not disappoint! I went all-in on the campaign, so I also have the expansion, which I’ll definitely be adding in next time I bring it to the table. If you haven’t heard of this one, I highly recommend checking it out!

HiFi: This was a birthday gift, and I finally got the chance to play it this month. It was incredibly difficult to track down, so I was beyond surprised when I unwrapped it. Such an awesome and unexpected gift! The gameplay is truly unique, and I love the nod to music throughout the game. While some have criticized it for feeling a bit flat, I still enjoy playing it and am happy to have it in my collection.

Food Truck: This was another game I impulsively picked up at Essen without much research. I’m always eager to add a beautifully illustrated card game to my collection, and with a food theme, it was an easy sell. Unfortunately, it didn’t work well for me at two players—it most likely shines at four. Since I rarely play with three or more, I’ve decided to introduce some house rules to make it a better fit.

Here is an overview of all the games I played in February:
