Hey there fellow board games lovers!
Welcome to my very first blog post on Gabi's Game Shelf. I'm very excited to start this journey and spend more time writing about board games. My goal with this blog is to simply write about board games. 😊 I want to do monthly recaps and highlight the new games I was able to play, I hope to write some recommendation lists and even dabble in the occasional game reviews. Who knows, perhaps I'll even start filming some time in the future...
A little bit about me, I moved from Chicago to Berlin in 2017 and had to regrow my board game collection from scratch. I started small and bought my first 2-player game back in 2018. 7 Wonders Duel served me well for quite a while, but naturally I was hungry for more. Unfortunately I didn't keep a good inventory back then, so I can barely remember what my next purchases were, but if I had to guess, I would say: Welcome To..., Alhambra, Clans of Caledonia, Caverna, Takenoko, and Point Salad.
Fast forward a bit to 2022, I started my Instagram account and in my first picture I had about 45 games. It's crazy to think that as of now, less than 2 years later, I have 163 games! I recently sold my Kallax shelves for some Billy bookcases and I must say, it does bring me joy to see the sun hit these shelves in the morning! I know it's a luxury to be able to afford board games nowadays and I really try not to take this hobby for granted. I try to slow down and enjoy all aspects of playing board games.
