This was another slower gaming month for me because I have been playing more video games than board games. Also, the weather has been really lovely, so I have been trying to spend some time outside with friends. Nonetheless, here are my monthly stats from June.
I track my plays with BGStats
and every month I look forward to creating my grid of all the different
board game covers of the games I've played. What interests me more are
actually the statistics and I particularly look at how many new games I
was able to try. I managed to try 2 new games this month!
- Tesseract Oh baby, this game caught my eye immediately! I first saw this game on the shelf in the U.S. Unfortunately, I didn't have any more room in my suitcase to bring it back with me to Germany, so I naturally went on the hunt for it in Berlin. To my luck, I found the last copy hiding away at Gamer's HQ! I finally had a chance to test it out and I really like it. The dice colors are so vibrant, and it's a fun cooperative puzzle.
- The Fox Experiment: This game belongs to a friend. She invited me over to play with her and her family and did I get my butt kicked. It took me about two rounds to really figure out the strategy of the selection phase, and once I did I enjoyed the game a lot. The first rounds play much quicker as you're limited to what you can do. Once you start upgrading some components and optimizing your turns, you feel really good when you're able to complete your study cards.
- Welcome to the Moon: I dove into "Welcome to the Moon" this month and have thoroughly enjoyed the campaign! Each new adventure level has been exciting to learn, while still retaining the familiar mechanics of the original version. Although I've now completed the campaign and all eight adventures, I'm eager to revisit each level for more fun. The campaign ended unfortunately in a tie (18 stars each), so we will have to play through it again. This game has quickly become one of my favorite flip-and-write experiences, and I highly recommend it to everyone!
- Takenoko Oyako: This is a highlight for me because I just received the game in the mail and had the chance to introduce it to a friend. They loved it, and I was absolutely thrilled to be playing with the jumbo collector's edition version. Sharing this experience made it even more special! You can read more about the game in my other post.
Here are the rest of the games I played in June:
The first half of 2024 is over... on to the second half. Happy gaming!
