Shelf of....

Shame? Shelf of .... Opportunity?

What do you call that pile of unplayed games you have sitting on your shelves?

Personally, I don't find either phrase, shelf of shame or shelf of opportunity, that great. These are simply the most common names I’ve heard used within the community. I just like to call it what it is - my list of unplayed games.

As we're now in the second half of 2024, I wanted to take a closer look at the games that have a place in my collection but I have yet had the chance to bring to the table.

I bought this game from someone over BGG Marketplace and I am so excited to have it in my collection. I’ve wanted it for a while and I was sad I missed out on the Kickstarter back then. To my luck I found someone selling their copy with all the expansions. I can’t wait to dive into this game, however I’m thinking of saving it for when the weather starts to get chilly again.

A friend was going to give me their copy of the game, but I passed on it because I preferred to have an English version.  While I was in the U.S. I found a copy and brought it back to Berlin with me.

You might remember this game from an earlier post. I purchased this game earlier this year through eBay for quite a deal. I’m very interested in this game and its theme, but it’s quite complex which is why I haven’t been able to get it to the table yet.

This game is from Origame Games I was so excited to see them at Essen last year. I bought this game on a whim. I didn’t know much about it except that the artwork is super cute and that it’s a card game. I love Wok and Roll and knew that they produce really great games, so I said why not.

This was game was high on my Essen 2023 wishlist because of the artwork! This game looks stunning and has beautiful table presence. I have wanted to learn and play this game for a while now, and I’m a little disappointed I haven’t gotten it to the table yet. I think this will be the first game I get off the shelf in the next weeks.

I bought this from Zatu games a while back because I saw it heavily discounted. I didn't know much about the game at the time, but the theme really intrigued me and I liked the fact that you could play the game both competitvely and co-operatively. I've sat down multiple times to learn the game, but haven't managed to bring it to the table.

Currently, my list of unplayed games is down to six because I have been making a conscious effort to play new games this year. Last year, in Essen and in the US, I bought many new games, and it has been great to be able to table them. Berlin Con is around the corner, and I will write a separate post about the games I buy there.

Here are all the games that have already been taken off my list of unplayed games:
