Here’s a list of challenges I’m excited to tackle in 2025. Feel free to take inspiration and try some for yourself!
1. Play 100 Different Games
- Goal: Broaden my gaming experience and diversity by playing 100 different board games throughout the year.
- Tips: Keep track with a gaming journal or app, join local board game groups, and participate in game nights.
2. Complete a 5x5 Challenge
- Goal: Choose 5 games and play each of them 5 times over the year.
- Tips: Select a mix of favorites and games you want to get better at. Regularly schedule game nights to stay on track.
3. Host a Monthly Game Night
- Goal: Organize and host a game night at least once a month.
- Tips: Invite friends and family, and rotate the games each month to keep it fresh and exciting.
4. Learn and Teach ... New Games
- Goal: Learn at least 20 new games throughout the year.
- Tips: Read the rules thoroughly, watch tutorial videos, and consider having a practice round before teaching others.
5. Attend a Board Game Convention
- Goal: Visit at least one board game convention in 2025. Right now I plan to visit Berlin Con and Essen Spiel again.
- Tips: Plan your trip in advance, set a budget, and make a list of games and events you want to check out.
6. Complete a Legacy Game
- Goal: Finish a legacy game campaign.
- Tips: Schedule regular sessions to maintain momentum, and make sure everyone is committed to the entire campaign.
7. Set a Budget for New Games
- Goal: Establish a budget for purchasing new games and stick to it. I set a monthly budget for myself.
- Tips: Prioritize games you really want, take advantage of sales and discounts, and trade or sell games you no longer play. Check out my other post for more tips!
